Opera Launches Feature that Blocks Cookie Dialogs

Google has been working hard to crack down advertisements and pop-ups, and it’s going pretty hard about it. That is no easy job, and Google is leaving no stone unturned to get the job done. But at the same time, Opera is also doing its part to make the internet more easy and user-friendly to use.

Opera is now offering an option to close the “we use cookies” dialogue boxes whenever we open a new website. This feature that was rolled out by a new update from the company now has the capability to block cookie dialogues. Now all you need to do if you hate closing these cookie dialogues is to go to the ad blocking settings, and Opera will do its best to get the jobs done.

Useful New Feature

But still, there is no guarantee or such that this feature would work. Opera is reportedly relying on a mix of CSS and JavaScript to get the job done. The company has also mentioned that this feature has been tested out with 15,000 sites, and the feedback that was coming through from the beta version has been pretty positive, thus giving Opera the push to bring this feature into the main app.

But there is a catch. Opera will still cookies to come through. Opera will only stop the dialogue from popping up, but will not stop cookies from coming through. Opera will always allow sites to set cookies. Now, this is no matter to worry as this does not pose as a risk. But on the other hand, if you want to completely block cookies from sites, then thought needs to be given.

Looked-forward Feature

The European Union is no fan of blocking stuff, and so it is doubtful to see how the council will react to this move by Opera. But at the same time, we hope this would not be a big deal because when you turn on this option, you are also agreeing that you would like to accept cookies on any website.

But that is also not the only new feature that is being rolled out by this new update. Now, there is also the feature of a universal text size slider that can now be found on top of the existing text wrap feature. So, whatever Opera might be pushing towards its users, one thing is for sure. Opera wants its users to move away from Chrome and embrace its version of surfing the web.
