You could get verified on twitter without being a celebrity

Getting a blue tick which literally means “verified” is nothing but a proud feeling that you achieved something. People call them celebrities or sometimes the president of United States of America (just kidding).

But a big majority of people misunderstood the idea of blue tick or verified sign which was introduced by Twitter in 2009. Twitter was facing a lot of criticism because of their verification process.

The primary reason behind the criticism was because of the users who believed that Twitter was backing up the verified celebrities and the tweets which are published by them (which is not true).

Twitter is just a social media service and their job is to make sure that the top celebrities and professionals with large number of followers are getting verified to avoid duplicates and to ensure authenticity.

Twitter has nothing to do with the tweets they put, the people they follow and the things they do online. Twitter might verify a famous porn star and that doesn’t mean that twitter is supporting them or backing their tweets.

Recently Jack Dorsey (CEO of Twitter) said that he’s not happy with the way users are dealing with twitter and he confirmed that the service is not backing any verified users or their tweets.

Jack Dorsey also said that they are thinking about making the verification process available to more twitter users so that the confusion might end with more clarity. When more users are getting permission to apply for verification, then people will understand the fact that twitter has nothing to do with the user who tweeted something with a blue tick near to his nickname.

Sounds interesting right!?

So hopefully, twitter will find a solution to this and may come up with an easy verification system for twitter users, which is gonna be really cool (not very cool as everybody can have access to it).

Still cool though! that blue tick.
