Facebook and Instagram To Show Amount of Time Spent on Apps

It is a true fact that one cannot track the amount of time spent once logged into a social networking platform. Once logged in, we are greeted by a huge catalog or media that it might seem hard just to keep up with all the information. Many social networking platforms have been targeted for not helping in reminding users of the amount of time that they have spent on social networking platforms.

Facebook has recently published an article which outlines the variety of new tools that the company would utilize to analyze the time spent on Instagram or Facebook by a particular user. These steps are being seen as taken by the company in the direction of digital well-being.

Digital Well-being

This new tool echoes the tools that were released by Apple in the recent update for the iPhone. The average time spent on each app can be seen as a graph, and they are outlined and given in clean statistics. It would then be possible to define a time limit on each of the given networks.

If you want to set a limit, you can set that too and an alert would also be sent once you have reached that limit. There are a variety of features and tools that are made available via this service. You can now have the option of sending of notifications up to 8 hours.

But how do you access these features? To access these tools, you can go to the parameter pages of the network and from there you can find this feature under your activity, and in Facebook, this feature can be found under your time on Facebook option. These features are expected to roll out to users soon.

Useful Experience

Facebook reached out and in the open letter, it stated that the company wants the time spent by users on Facebook and Instagram to be intentional, positive and also inspiring at the same time. These tools are expected to help users to do just that, and to also help them to control the time spent on their respective platforms wisely.

A tool in the direction of digital wellness was already seen on Instagram when it notified that one has seen all the posts from the last two days. But though the companies can do all that they can to help users from over-indulging in the social networks, it is essentially up to users to keep a check on themselves on as to how much time they spend on their social networks.

Facebook and Instagram might have introduced tools to stop the overuse of phones and technology, but the companies still have a lot of information that can make one hooked to the services. So to maintain our well-being, we should be very careful of our digital well-being.
