WhatsApp Now Allows Group Calls To Up to 4 People

This is a feature that has long been coming. WhatsApp had leaked out a new feature that the company was working on, and that was group video and audio calls. And now, that is finally here. WhatsApp users can now do group calls that would be limited only to 4 people.

Now, how to do a group call? Simply make a call with someone. You will then find a plus symbol on the top right corner that is the option to add participants. As usual, WhatsApp has stated that these calls would always be encrypted end-to-end. This feature has been rolled out to the official versions of WhatsApp is both Android and iOS.

Essential Feature

But this is not the only app that has released group calls. Instagram has also released video calls and has also limited them to 4 people. Facebook also has a similar feature that is found on Facebook Messenger. However, on Snapchat one has the option of calling up to 16 people, be it audio calls or video calls.

Heavy Potential

The feature of audio and video calls as seen is not new, but it would turn out to be an essential feature of the app. WhatsApp sees almost 2 billion minutes that are placed in calls every day, and so the app has a lot of potentials that it can tap into.

But at the same time, Apple allows group calls of up to 32 people in FaceTime. Only time can tell if Facebook or its services would also open up to accommodate such a feature.
