Google Brings Design Change and New Features to Google Fit

Google is busy bringing design changes to its services and applications, and it is not sparing anything. From core services like Gmail to its messaging application Android Messages, the internet giant is not leaving any stone unturned. Google has also not missed the attention of some of its lesser-known apps like Google Fit. Google’s application to track one’s physical activity is also getting a brand new look with a whole new look and amazing new features.

This new design change is in compliance with the newest material design that Google is offering, with a new font, brand new fluid animations, new colors and the change in the placement of various other icons.

UI Redesign

These new changes are just not part of the whole design change, but is also part of Google’s efforts to get back focus to the app, and stand in line with other wellness tracking apps like RunTracker and the lot. Along with design changes, the new features that are coming are features like tracking activities and counting heartbeats. The previous version showed focus only on active minutes, but this time it has been further expanded.

The app can also now recognize what kind of activity one is going through and would give the related data. The app will now also issue points. Users get one point for moderate activity, and intense activity calls for two points. On the visual side, rings would be shown indicating one’s progress, and when one reaches their daily goal, an octagon would be formed. This is like a gamification system that has been added onto the app.

New Features

The app has now collaborated with the American Heart Association and the World Health Organization, which would allow users to get the amount and intensity that is needed to improve one’s health. Google is now also integrating Google Fit with other applications such as MyFitnessPal or Edomondo. These apps can now retrieve data and can use this data to update one’s activity log.

This new version of Google Fit would be rolled out not just to Android phones, but also to wearOS watches. This new version is being rolled out just days after rumors about the Google Coach surfaced. The Google Coach is rumored to be the company’s future fitness assistant potential for the Wear OS.
