Google Updates Its Maps App With New Features and Updates

Google Maps has forever been the go-to app for directions and locations. Many companies have come up with their own versions, but none of them has been able to tackle what Google has been able to accomplish with its Maps app.

Today, the Google Maps app has been used to not only get to locations but also to check up places and draw up reviews. And it seems that Google does not intend to slow down. Earlier this week, Google brought out a whole new redesign for Google Maps. This update brought in a visual overhaul, but it did not stop with there.

This new update brought in a lot more updates and functionality tools more than what the users asked for. This new update introduced a new tab called the commute tab. So, what is this tab? Basically, this new tab is the best next thing for those who regularly use public transport to get to places. With this new tab, the overall commute experience is improved, commute time is shortened, and also there is a new music streaming feature that is also included.

Commute Tab

The commute tab also a ton of new several smart features like notifications about delays, route suggestions, and also travel time ranging throughout all commute types and transport combinations. There are also traffic times, and also real-time bus and train locations on the map.

Though this update is being rolled out to both Android and iOS platforms, Android is getting a ton of functions like notifications about delays and disruptions. That way, you don’t need to be stuck in traffic because Google has already done the job for you.

Functional Updates

And has already mentioned, Google has added a new feature that allows you to play music within the app. This feature is crucial as many tend to listen to music while they travel. With this feature, time is saved as you now don’t need to fire up your music player, and you can focus on your travel.

The app was previously updated to show smart suggestions based on where you live, how you move around and the things you like. This new commute tab is not replacing these already present tools but is just an additional factor. One can only guess if this is the final product or is more going to come in the following days.

These updates are welcome because they not only change the way the app looks and feels, but also pumps up the functional factor of the app.
