New Startup Restaurant Serves Burgers Made by a Bot

We love machines. We also love burgers. Machines help us do stuff, and burgers provide a good and tasty meal. But what if machines and burgers combine? Well, that is what Creator, a new burger bot restaurant in San Francisco is doing. It is using a machine and only a machine to make burgers.

The idea comes from the founder of both the restaurant and the robot. The founder, Alex Vardakostas used to help his parents in their restaurant, and he used to flip burgers. The idea occurred to him when he realized that a routine job of making burgers can be made much easier and better. And hence came the idea of inventing such a machine.

The bot has many sensors, and they all help in making the perfect burger. And the best thing is, that this burger is only for $6. The company claims that one can have a freshest burger for $6.

So how does this process work? Well, once this burger is ordered, the compressed air tube pushes a baked-that-day bun into an elevator. The bun is then sawed in half by a vibrating knife before being toasted and buttered before being lowered to the conveyor belt. Whole pickles, tomatoes, onions and blocks of nice cheese get slices shaved off just a second before they’re dropped on top.

Benefits

And since this process is done by machines, you can expect clear-cut vegetables and meat. According to the owner, the whole process is designed in such a way that the eating experience is easy and comfortable. When you bite into the burger, the teeth align with the vertical strands. So instead of hard chewing, the meat almost melts in your mouth.

The meat is free of all preservatives, and so do all the other ingredients. The vegetables are also fresh-cut. According to the owner, this is a kind of burger which might cost you $12 or $18, but it is available for just $6. This amount is possible is because of all the lack of labor and kitchen space.

This startup is backed by a food startup investor Khosla Ventures and also by a hardware focused company called Root Ventures. So, why does a burger shack requires a backup from companies like theses?

Well, this small burger shop intends to take on McDonald’s and other huge fast food chains. The founder believes that the reason why he believes that this will happen is that of the amount of space that can be saved by an innovation like this, and the amount of output that the machine can give.

Future

The founder and co-founder who are the reason for this have a company called Momentum Machines that was found in 2009, and operations started serious progress by 2014.

Though there are many food robots out there, this particular bot stands out due to not only the quantity of food that can be made but also the quality. The taste is amazing, and the way it is made is safe, innovative and in perfection. But, will this affect human employees? Though the founder feels that a human-less kitchen is not possible, he feels that with this bot, new opportunities are created.

This truly feels like a step towards a future where robots and machines would be handling much of the labor. And though movies might make it seem like a future of chaos and danger, it is a future of ease and technology.
