Microsoft to Add A Black Theme in Outlook (Dark Mode)

Microsoft has been making a lot of UI changes recently, and it has had an effect on the whole user interface of the system. Well, among the various changes that were made, a dark theme was something that was very looked forward too. Though many apps received this black theme interface, an app that did not get it was the Outlook app.

Though there was no official announcement, from the beginning of the month Outlook has received the black theme, and this is something that users are really happy about. Microsoft has already implemented this feature in the past and thought that was only temporary, that was something that got the users excited.

But this time, Microsoft has decided that it is going to bring in the dark mode, and this time it is to stay. This permanent dark mode can easily be accessed by the quick settings, and it goes really well with the theme. But this feature is not just seen as yet another UI change. Microsoft is fighting to get back users from Gmail, and the app is doing everything it can to bring back users.

Overall Change

Gmail is also bringing a huge redesign, and this time it is not just a UI change. Many new features are here like self-destruction of emails, and also uses AI to work Smart Compose, that is a feature that writes a mail for you. There is yet another feature called Smart Reply that offers shorter answers than longer, elaborate ones.

This new move of bringing the dark mode is something that not just Microsoft is doing, but Apple and Google are also doing the same thing. This could very well be called as the year of the dark theme, and companies are pushing this theme across all services. From mobile to desktop apps and websites, the dark theme is being adopted, and users are loving this.

Multiple UI

With Apple, the theme is more widespread and is in sync across all services and features of the system. Though many services are also in a dark theme in Microsoft, they are not widespread, and the black theme is not found in every inch of the system like Apple. Google is also doing the same with its apps and services, and YouTube has already added a black theme, both on iOS and Android.

Though Android and Chrome OS have not received a black or night theme, Google’s mobile apps have received a black theme, and they are widespread and can be found at every nook and corner of the application or service. One can only wait to see how these tech companies bring out new night themes and how they affect how we use apps.
